Separated Shoulder

Well the Tuesday night MTB ride really became a lot of fun when I ran into a tree that just happened to jump out at me. After we had made a sweet fire and rode some trails and built a nice little feature to ride over it all went awry. Felling a little frisky I was following Loehr on his single speed through a trail we know very well. Loehr jumped off this root we have jumped off a billion times to clear a couple other roots. What happens next is something I can't explain. When I hit the root my bike all of a sudden wanted to turn right straight into a little innocent tree. At the last second I ducked to the right and quite possibly avoided breaking my collar bone. The tree hit my square right on the top of my shoulder and stopped me dead in my tracks. I sat there for a second in pain and was hoping nothing bad was wrong as I did not want to miss snowboarding this weekend in NC. I got up and it really hurt. I checked to make sure everything was moving and all systems were go. Got back on the bike in some pain and rode back to the fire. Mark and I just sat at the fire for a while, while the other guys went to do another lap. When they got back I said let's go I don't feel to great. Got back to the shop and painfully took off my jersey and jacket and that is when I saw how puffed up it was. Oh well no snowboarding and will probably be off the bike for about a week or two. That's what I get for riding a 6" travel bike that makes me get a little crazy.

  1. a tree jumped out and popped me in my left shoulder at Heritage on Sunday. Luckily, I was travelling at my normal, not-quite-breakneck speed.

  2. Hmm...I heard about your wreck while also riding Heritage Sunday. I figured misery loves company, so I went ahead and crashed head first into a tree too...at full speed down a hill. Thank God for helmets, but my neck hurts like I was in a car wreck yesterday. Hope your shoulder feels better!!
